Grocery Retailer GDA Profitably Enriches the Shopping Experience with Blue Yonder
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – April 30, 2020 – Blue Yonder, Inc., today announced that Italian grocery retailer GDA has successfully deployed category management and warehouse replenishment solutions as it revamps its assortment strategy. Athena Retail and Inventory Management assisted with the project at GDA.
GDA operates throughout brands like Futura, Pick up, Conviene for grocery retail and Talento for the HoReCa channel. Its network includes 120 point of sale locations that are distributed in seven regions in South Italy. Though each brand caters to a very specific segment of customers, all are characterized by the high standard of product quality, choice and customer service. GDA’s mission is to satisfy consumers’ and professional customers’ needs by providing a high-quality and competitive assortment service. GDA is part of Orizzonti Holding, which aggregates different brands in the retail and food processing industry.
“Innovation and technology are key enablers for us to always anticipate shopper demand and deliver the right assortments to customers in all of our store formats,” said Valerio Di Carlo, general manager, GDA. “As a company, we strongly focus on constantly innovating and improving our processes to better serve our customers, by understanding and keeping in mind the specific local needs, while leveraging a global and integrated approach in the way we manage stocks and categories. We are delighted with the results of our collaboration with Blue Yonder, as well as Athena Retail and Inventory Management. We have a world-class solution in place that is matched by the unique knowledge of local partners.”
With a goal of increasing profitability and reducing costs paired with a commitment to guarantying the best assortments based on customers’ preferred point of sales, GDA chose Blue Yonder for its retail supply chain transformation. Working with Blue Yonder, Athena Retail and Inventory Management, GDA developed a multi-format distribution model through integration between local stores and its global distribution network to provide a complete and dynamic assortment strategy, capable of addressing customers’ needs by taking into account shopper demand and buying habits. This led to a successful, end-to-end category management strategy that has helped GDA achieve profit and merchandising objectives through optimal inventory and service levels.
Since deploying Blue Yonder, GDA has:
- Reduced and optimized inventory
- Gained analytics-driven insights about shopper behaviors at both macro- and local-levels
- Created localized, actionable, space-aware assortment plans for more profitable growth
“We’re happy to support GDA in their mission to achieve a customer-centric approach to merchandise planning, through integrated category management and warehouse replenishment solutions,” said Johan Reventberg, president, EMEA, Blue Yonder. “GDA can now produce optimal assortments and space plans for each store, while planning and executing promotions that are based on shoppers’ buying habits yielding higher rates of customer satisfaction and increased category sales goals and profitability.”
