Foodstuffs North Island Transforms Transportation and Logistics Management with JDA
New Zealand’s largest retail grocery organisation adopts JDA Transportation Management to improve operational efficiencies and drive industry best practices
Ensuring that their millions of customers can get what they want is critical to Foodstuffs North Island, and equally important is the ability to transport products efficiently and economically. To achieve this, Foodstuffs has partnered with JDA Software, Inc. to deploy JDA® Transportation Management across its transportation business.
Foodstuffs has grown to become New Zealand’s biggest grocery distributor, and is one of the country’s largest organisations, 100 percent Kiwi owned and operated. Foodstuffs North Island Limited has a growing network of almost 350 PAK’nSAVE, New World, Four Square, Fresh Collective and Gilmours stores.
JDA Transportation Management provides a single platform to plan transportation and provide visibility across Foodstuffs’ network. Foodstuffs is already reaping benefits by having a common system and standard processes across their transportation business. Over time, JDA will help Foodstuffs optimize costs via route consolidation, load optimization, and by adopting leading practices in logistics management.
“JDA is a valuable partner in our supply chain transformation journey,” said Gareth McFarlane, acting supply chain general manager for Foodstuffs North Island. “With over 4,000 deliveries per week, the JDA platform will enable us to improve efficiency and utilisation of time and space to deliver on our customer promise.”
With JDA Transportation Management, Foodstuffs expects to see an increase in transit visibility for freight movements, route and load optimisation, carrier metrics and support data to aid in carrier management discussions, reduction in manual processes and improved team productivity, among other benefits. The ability to make real-time decisions enables the teams to drive greater agility and responsiveness in meeting customer needs.
“We are very pleased to see the results delivered by JDA’s experts in technology, education, cloud and other areas together with Foodstuffs,” said Stuart Rees, vice president, sales, Australia and New Zealand, at JDA. “We look forward to being part of Foodstuffs’ supply chain journey.”
