Industry Insights

Heading into the second half of the year, Blue Yonder shares insights shaped by its industry expertise that are top of mind for customers and partners:

  • The cumulative effect of inflation over the past several years has led to fundamental changes in consumer buying behavior, with many national consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands facing higher pricing pressure from a steady growth in store brands.
  • Supply and demand are out of balance again, due in part to constraints throughout the manufacturing industry. There is a renewed focus on efficiency and cost control across supply chain operations.
  • Recent supply disruptions (e.g., the Baltimore port bridge and the earthquakes in Taiwan) highlighted the importance of supply chain resilience across global value chains, starting with the need for visibility and collaboration across multiple tiers of supply.
  • Nearshoring and onshoring, catalyzed by current geopolitical events, are driving a resurgence in factory floor planning and scheduling across Automotive, Industrial and High-Tech industries.
  • Labor continues to be the highest priority for logistics service providers (LSPs), many of which are struggling with rising labor costs, shortage of workers and high turnover. While robotics will continue to be an area of investment, LSPs need to also look at the automation of decisioning and supply chain visibility as a path to use resources in high-value activities to improve and expand service offerings.
  • Retailers are expecting superior service levels, with heightened efficiencies and increased innovation offerings that include AI. As a result, LSPs need to look for efficiencies to transform their business. This includes improving utilizing of existing assets in transportation modes and offering more sustainability choices to pick, pack and ship.

Building Strong Momentum in Q3

Blue Yonder’s acquisition of One Network Enterprises (One Network) closed on Aug. 1, showcasing the company’s strong momentum heading into Q3. The acquisition gives Blue Yonder customers the ability to collaborate and share data – from inventory levels to raw and finished goods materials movement – in real time across all trading partners up and down the supply chain. With the addition of One Network’s commercial technology, Blue Yonder can now offer customers a multi-enterprise, multi-tier network ecosystem; artificial intelligence (AI)-powered supply chain assistants to identify, monitor, analyze, and resolve problems; and a simplified process to onboard and work with trading partners. This is the third company Blue Yonder has acquired since Q4 2023, marking approximately $1 billion in M&A investments and is emblematic of Blue Yonder’s intent to transform the global supply chain.
