JDA delivers strong third quarter fueled by SaaS growth; leverages strong cash position to close Blue Yonder acquisition
JDA Software, Inc., today announced financial results for the third quarter of 2018, which were driven by strong customer demand for its end-to-end supply chain and retail solutions. JDA Luminate solutions, powered by Blue Yonder’s leading AI and ML technology, are generating great interest from JDA customers, and deliver cognitive insights and prescriptive recommendations to make smarter and more profitable business decisions.
“Q3 was the third quarter in a row when our SaaS bookings grew triple digits on a year-over-year basis. SaaS accounted for almost half of our overall product bookings. This is a milestone that conveys JDA is well on its way to be a leader in cloud-delivered supply chain solutions,” said Girish Rishi, chief executive officer, JDA. “Our innovation metrics have also surpassed our expectations. SaaS transformation drives continued momentum
In the third quarter, JDA made a significant leap towards transitioning to a subscription business model as SaaS bookings grew 105 percent year-over-year (YoY) and SaaS mix grew 25 points YoY to 48 percent of total product (software and SaaS) bookings for the quarter. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, SaaS bookings have grown 148 percent.
With the higher mix of annual SaaS contracts, JDA saw its total product bookings decline three percent YoY in Q3 but is up 10 percent year-to-date (YTD). Total revenue grew by three percent and SaaS revenue grew 68 percent in Q3 2018 compared to the same period last year. JDA also saw nine percent YTD growth for total revenue and 61 percent growth for SaaS revenue compared to the same nine-month period last year. Professional Services revenue for Q3 2018 also demonstrated strong growth of 10 percent YoY and 17 percent YTD. JDA also utilized its strong cash position to complete the acquisition of Blue Yonder without taking on additional debt this quarter.
Customer momentum continues to grow year-over-year
JDA closed five product deals over $1 million in Q3 2018 and has closed 18 YTD, continuing the momentum seen in recent quarters for customers relying on JDA for their large, transformational digital supply chain initiatives. JDA also closed its largest SaaS deal in company history this quarter. Additionally, JDA added 51 new customers in Q3 2018, representing an increase of 50 percent versus Q2 2018, and 110 new customers YTD.
