Grupo Comercial Control Selects Blue Yonder and GOLDCO To Digitally Transform and Offer Better Shopper Experience
Leading Mexican retailer looks to expand its analysis and category understanding capabilities with Blue Yonder Category Management
MEXICO CITY and SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – March 7, 2024 – In a highly competitive industry, retailers must be able to make decisions quickly and efficiently to meet consumer demands. That’s why Grupo Comercial Control, a leading Mexican retailer, has selected to deploy Blue Yonder Category Management to address a gap in its retail operations and gain the ability to create planograms that offer a better shopper experience by minimizing out-of-stock products. The deployment of the SaaS solution will be managed by GOLDCO, a Blue Yonder partner.
Grupo Comercial Control has more than 60 years of department store experience through the Del Sol and Woolworth brands, as well as Noreste Grill restaurants. The retailer has more than 120 stores across 70 cities in 25 Mexican states. Grupo Comercial Control was looking for a solution that would allow it to satisfy its consumers by exceeding purchase expectations, as well as increasing profitability to potentially expand their business. The retailer is turning to its long-time supply chain solutions provider, Blue Yonder, and a leading implementation partner with extensive experience in retail strategy, GOLDCO. Grupo Comercial Control currently utilizes several Blue Yonder solutions as part of its strategy to digitalize and optimize its operations.
Once Blue Yonder’s solution is implemented by GOLDCO, Grupo Comercial Control will be better equipped to:
- Standardize business rules to ensure that the product assortments selected for each category meet the company’s defined strategies, as well as the expected performance within the category is performed in an agile and consistent manner.
- Complement the category analysis with inputs such as: producing market information (make real-time comparisons of positioning versus market categories), including trade agreements or agreements with category captains, and creating dashboards to verify the value/growth of proposed changes.
- Clear definition of objectives based on measurable KPIs, evolving the portfolio of products offered to its customers.
“We were seeking a solution to help us enhance the analysis of our product categories against the industry challenges and changing consumer demand. Blue Yonder’s category management solution allows us to complement and improve our assortment proposal for our different categories and customer segments. We are looking forward to implementing the solution so we can become more agile in our stores and to simplify the processes for our employees in turn improving their work environment and giving them the ability to focus on pleasing our customers,” said Antonio Palos, sub director, Central Office, Grupo Comercial Control.
The Blue Yonder Category Management solution offers an assortment optimization capability that takes the product assortment recommendation process to the next level by translating the common principles and priorities of an assortment selection (e.g., consumer decision trees, historical shopper information, etc.) into actionable or assortment tactics, making an ideal assortment recommendation for the business. Assortment optimization brings a consistent approach to the assortment selection process, so different assortment updates (e.g., range reviews, small updates, etc.) have the same principles applied to them. The assortments are planogram specific (multiple planogram sizes and clusters) and space aware, ensuring that the selected assortment will fit into the available planogram space.
“As an established partner of Blue Yonder, partnering with Grupo Comercial Control was important given the strategic vision they have. We are excited to see the impact this solution will have on their business. We will continue to support Grupo Comercial Control during this process and look forward to seeing how our partnership can achieve more ambitious goals in the coming years,” said Jorge Mosqueda, practice director, GOLDCO.
“We are excited to be working with Grupo Comercial Control on their category and assortment transformation journey. Once fully implemented, our Blue Yonder solution will offer them the ability to create and analyze various planogram views, allowing them to calculate before and after recommendations and facilitate a comparison between current and proposed assortments. This will ensure they have the right inventory on the right shelves at the right stores to meet the changing needs of their consumers,” said Albert Jung, senior director, Retail – LATAM, Blue Yonder.
